Moomoo Partners With Crossover to Accelerate US Crypto Trading

Moomoo is intensifying its push into the United States cryptocurrency market through a strategic partnership with Crossover Markets, bringing advanced institutional trading infrastructure to retail investors as competition among digital asset platforms continues to escalate.
Announced on 7 October 2026, the agreement will integrate Crossover Markets' CROSSx execution network into Moomoo's cryptocurrency trading operations, potentially improving transaction speed, liquidity access and order execution during periods of extreme market volatility.
Institutional Trading Technology Enters Retail Markets
Under the partnership, Moomoo will connect its trading interface to CROSSx routing infrastructure at the NY4 data centre in New York, providing access to an expanded network of digital asset liquidity providers and trading counterparties.
CROSSx operates as an electronic communication network dedicated to trade execution, using sophisticated order matching technology to connect market participants.
According to Crossover Markets, its infrastructure can deliver order acknowledgement times of less than 10 microseconds while processing substantial trading activity during volatile market conditions.
Such capabilities could prove particularly significant during sudden cryptocurrency price movements, when delays in execution and limited market liquidity can expose traders to unexpected losses.
However, faster execution technology does not eliminate cryptocurrency price volatility or guarantee that investors will receive their desired transaction prices.
Moomoo Expands Beyond Coinbase Infrastructure
The latest partnership marks another significant step in Moomoo's cryptocurrency expansion strategy.
The investment platform introduced cryptocurrency trading in the United States in 2025, initially relying on infrastructure provided by Coinbase. Its subsequent expansion into Texas introduced additional cryptocurrency trading options alongside direct deposits and withdrawals involving external digital wallets.
Moomoo, which serves more than 30 million investors worldwide, is now strengthening its trading infrastructure as digital assets become increasingly integrated with conventional investment products.
Meanwhile, Crossover Markets has attracted considerable institutional attention. In March 2026, Tradeweb led a $31 million Series B funding round that valued the company at approximately $200 million, highlighting growing investor interest in the infrastructure supporting cryptocurrency markets.
Competition Shifts Towards Execution Quality
The partnership also highlights an important competitive shift among digital asset trading platforms, where transaction reliability, liquidity and execution costs are becoming critical factors in attracting investors.
Neil McDonald, Chief Executive Officer of Moomoo US, emphasised that cryptocurrency investors increasingly expect execution standards comparable to those available in traditional financial markets.
For brokerage platforms, access to multiple liquidity providers could improve order matching efficiency and reduce dependence on individual trading venues. Nevertheless, the actual benefits to retail investors will depend on transaction costs, available liquidity and the quality of execution delivered under live market conditions.
As institutional technology becomes more accessible, cryptocurrency platforms could face mounting pressure to demonstrate measurable improvements rather than compete primarily through promotional incentives.
What This Means for Malaysian Investors
As global trading platforms race to deliver faster execution and deeper liquidity, Malaysian investors face an increasingly important question: whether technological sophistication is being matched by adequate regulatory oversight, transparent trading costs and meaningful investor protection. However, the partnership concerns Moomoo's United States operations and does not automatically extend cryptocurrency trading services or CROSSx access to Malaysian customers.
