Goodbye Weekend Gap: XM Launches 24/7 Gold Trading
Abstract:XM has launched GOLD24-7, a new CFD instrument that allows clients to trade gold seven days a week, including weekends. The product, introduced on August 6, 2026, removes the traditional weekend blackout window and sits alongside the broker's existing XAU/USD offering. Co-CEO Stavri Morti said the launch gives traders the flexibility to respond to weekend market-moving events in real time.

XM has launched GOLD24-7, a new trading instrument that lets clients trade gold seven days a week, including weekends when gold markets have traditionally been shut. The Cyprus-headquartered broker introduced the product on August 6, 2026, making it available across its supported platforms.
The launch marks a significant shift for retail gold traders, who until now had no way to act on weekend news that could move gold prices sharply before Monday's open.
Why Weekends Matter for Gold Traders
For decades, gold markets closed on Friday afternoon and stayed shut until Sunday evening or Monday morning. A geopolitical flare-up, a surprise central bank statement, or an unexpected economic release over a weekend could send gold swinging. Traders could only watch, unable to adjust positions until the market reopened, often at a very different price.
Stavri Morti, Co-CEO at XM, framed the launch around that exact problem. “Markets don't stop generating news simply because it's the weekend,” he said. “Economic data, geopolitical developments and breaking news can all influence market sentiment over the weekend. We introduced GOLD24-7 to give our clients greater flexibility to respond to those developments as they happen, instead of waiting until Monday.”
How GOLD24-7 Works
GOLD24-7 is offered as a separate CFD alongside XM's existing spot gold offering, XAU/USD, which continues on its standard trading schedule. The new instrument removes the weekend blackout window, allowing positions to be opened, adjusted or closed at any time, including through the weekend gap that has shaped gold trading for decades.
This is particularly relevant for swing and position traders who hold gold over weekends and face direct gap risk. News-driven traders gain the ability to respond to headlines as they break, rather than waiting for Monday's open.
Built on 15 Years of Gold Trading
XM has been active in gold trading for more than 15 years. Earlier in 2026, during a period of historic volatility in the gold market, the broker provided traders with uninterrupted trading and execution conditions that included zero requotes and no rejections. GOLD24-7 builds on that approach by extending gold trading beyond the traditional trading week.
The Broader Industry Shift
The launch does not happen in isolation. CME Group introduced 24/7 trading for its 1-ounce gold futures contract in July 2026, and several retail brokers have since rolled out their own round-the-clock gold CFD products. XM's GOLD24-7 places the broker among the early movers responding to growing demand for continuous access to gold markets.
Availability and Client Protections
GOLD24-7 is now available to all XM clients, subject to account type and regional availability. XM operates through multiple regulated entities, including CySEC in Cyprus and the DFSA in Dubai. Client funds are held in segregated accounts, and negative balance protection applies to eligible retail clients.
