General Information of Point72
Point72 Asset Management. LP is an American hedge fund founded in 2014 as a successor to SAC Capital (which was founded in 1992 and pleaded guilty to federal insider trading charges and paid a $1.8 billion fine). SAC Capital transferred most of its assets to Point72 and went into a “shutdown” status. After the government criticized SAC's compliance program, Point72 implemented a series of reforms to strengthen internal compliance. At the end of 2020, Point72 had approximately 1,500 employees and was headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.
