      - If the Dow Jones is the US Securities Index, then the USD Index is the US Dollar index. USD Index is abbreviated as DX, DXY or USDX. It is a measure of the value of the US Dollar against the value of a basket of currencies consisting of the United States' most important trading partners. This index is the most general technical indicator, showing the exchange rate of the dollar on the global foreign exchange market, and is called the US dollar index.

      - This basket includes 6 currencies: Euro (EUR), Yen (JPY), Pound (GBP), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Krona (SEK). Although there are only six currencies, the USD index includes more than six countries (since there are 19 countries sharing the Euro). Depending on the strength of the economy, each currency has a different weight. EUR (European Union region with 27 member countries) accounts for the majority of the basket of currencies (about 58%). Japan, UK and Canada have roughly equal weights (about 10%), Sweden and Switzerland account for a smaller share (about 4%).

      - The USDX index helps you observe the value of the US dollar (USD) against the value of a currency in a basket of currencies in a single transaction. This indicator also helps traders make predictions about whether the USD will increase or decrease the value of the USD in the future.

      - Besides, analysts and traders often use USDX to determine the trend of commodity markets related to the USD, such as gold, silver, and kerosene.

In addition, USDX is also used in futures contracts, DOC, and is also an important part of mutual funds, swap funds ( TEFs).
