📊 Gold / FX / Index Daily Update | 11 August 2026
🔥 Oil is back in focus.
Brent and WTI surged around 5% on Monday as hopes for a quick agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz faded. Higher Oil also brought inflation risk back into focus just before Wednesdays U.S. CPI report.
🟡 GOLD WATCH — XAUUSD
Quick View:
Gold gained around 0.5% and finished near the $4,360 area, remaining close to recent highs.
Key levels to watch:
$4,350 support / $4,400 resistance / $4,300 deeper support
Why watch it?
Gold is balancing two opposing forces:
✅ weaker U.S. labour-market expectations
✅ geopolitical uncertainty
versus:
⚠️ rising Oil
⚠️ renewed inflation risk
⚠️ potentially higher Treasury yields
Wednesdays CPI remains the next major macro test.
🔥 OIL WATCH — WTI / BRENT
Quick View:
Oil jumped around 5% as U.S.-Iran negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz remained unresolved.
Early Tuesday:
Brent: around $88
WTI: around $82.45
Key levels to watch:
Brent $85 / $88 / $90
WTI $80 / $82 / $85
Why watch it?
Iran and the U.S. remain divided over the conditions required to reopen the Strait.
Any progress — or further deterioration — may create rapid Oil volatility.
The latest EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook is also due today.
💵 FX WATCH — USDJPY / EURUSD
USDJPY
The pair rebounded toward 159, with the yen weakening around 0.8% on Monday as the effect of previous intervention faded.

The 160 area may again increase attention on possible official intervention.
EURUSD
EURUSD slipped toward 1.1540 as the dollar recovered modestly.
Key levels:
1.1500 / 1.1550 / 1.1600
CPI positioning and Treasury yields may dominate short-term FX direction.
📈 US INDEX WATCH — US30 / NAS100 / SPX500
Monday:
Dow -0.11%
S&P 500 -0.06%
Nasdaq -0.32%
Wall Street remains close to record levels, but higher Oil prices have brought inflation concerns back into the picture.
Key levels to watch:
US30 — 54,000 area
SPX500 — 7,750 area
NAS100 — 26,500-27,000 area
The key question:
Can strong earnings continue supporting equities if Oil and Treasury yields move higher?
🤖 AI STOCKS WATCH — NVIDIA / INTEL / SEMICONDUCTORS
Intel fell around 4% after announcing plans to raise $15 billion through a share sale to expand its foundry and advanced manufacturing operations.

• Nvidia AI infrastructure demand
• Intel capital raise and dilution
• AI data-centre investment

• NAS100 momentum
AI remains a major growth theme, but investors are increasingly asking:
How much capital is required — and how quickly can that investment generate returns?
