Pepperstone received USDT but refused to credit the account, misappropriating client funds. The deposit instructions did not clearly state in Chinese that opBNB network is prohibited. Both are Binance chains. After the deposit arrived, they refused to credit it or refund, citing lack of support.
When I made a USDT deposit to Pepperstone, the platform only stated it supports BSC (Binance Smart Chain). It did not provide any clear warning on the deposit page: opBNB network is not supported, using opBNB for transfers is prohibited.
Since opBNB is also part of the Binance ecosystem chain and belongs to the same type of chain system as BSC, it is very easy for ordinary users to get confused. As a result, I mistakenly transferred 150.44 USDT via the opBNB network.
Current blockchain query shows:
The funds have successfully reached Pepperstone's official receiving address. It was not an address error, nor were the funds lost.
However, Pepperstone officially replied stating:
1. The platform does not support the opBNB network and will not credit the deposit.
2. They acknowledge the ability to recover the funds at the blockchain level.
3. However, citing payment service provider regulations, they refuse to assist in the refund and will not take any action.
I believe the platform bears clear responsibility:
1. It failed to clearly distinguish between BSC and opBNB and provide risk warnings.
2. It did not set up interception for unsupported networks, allowing users to transfer funds.
3. After actually receiving the user's funds and having the technical capability to recover them, it refuses to fulfill its obligation to return them, severely compromising user asset security.
I am now formally pursuing my rights. I have already sent emails to the Bahamas Securities Commission and the regulatory bodies overseeing them to assist in recovering the 150.44 USDT.
For domestic clients, trying to get help from their customer service is basically like getting the runaround. Getting manual crediting is even more unthinkable.
Later, I will also attach evidence from my Token Pocket wallet where I observed the wallet inputting the deposit address Pepperstone gave me. I saw that the funds are indeed in this address account. They are illegally appropriating the funds under the pretext of non-support. This was my first time downloading this platform, my first deposit. Be cautious, family, this is a trap. I have probably sent complaints to four regulatory bodies, including their Australian regulator (ASIC + AFCA). I've been sending emails for three days now. Even if it seems like dropping a stone into the sea, it's still a warning to avoid this pitfall, brothers, be careful‼️
In the end, it might also be like dropping a stone into the sea. I just can't swallow this anger. Customer service basically gives you the runaround. Regulation can only be contacted via email. Rights protection is very slow. I was thinking, if I succeed in depositing now, if they don't let us withdraw later, we would be equally helpless in seeking recourse. Contacting customer service usually results in the runaround. Contacting regulators requires sending emails abroad. Customer service also mostly suggests email. Send today, reply tomorrow. Brothers, watching your hard-earned money converted to USD and finally deposited, you still won't feel at ease. There's really no need for this platform. My experience was extremely poor, hahaha 😂
Evidence: Blockchain deposit records, official reply emails from the platform. I asked Binance customer service, and they confirmed it was transferred to the address provided by the platform.
In summary: The funds were sent to the address the platform provided me. They use non-support as a reason to neither refund nor credit the deposit, illegally appropriating the funds. There is no domestic regulation over them. Domestic users, invest with caution❕
