Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, visited Samsung Electronics semiconductor plant in South Korea, highlighting potential expansion of cooperation in the AI chip supply chain.
According to Reuters, discussions may go beyond existing memory supply—where Samsung provides high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AMDs AI accelerators—into possible foundry manufacturing collaboration.
The visit to Samsungs advanced Pyeongtaek facility comes amid surging global demand for AI chips, where strong partnerships between chip designers and manufacturers are increasingly critical.
Analysts see the move as part of AMDs strategy to diversify supply chains and strengthen production capacity, especially as competition in the AI semiconductor space intensifies.
If cooperation expands, it could enhance both companies positions in the global AI race and reshape dynamics in advanced chip manufacturing.
