Most brokers love to advertise their IB program.
“High commissions”, “easy onboarding”, “fast payouts”.
But if you look at the numbers, most IB programs dont fail because partners are weak.
They fail because the architecture behind the program is misaligned from day one.
The uncomfortable truth:
IB programs dont collapse at the marketing level.
They collapse at the structural level.
Where IB programs actually break?
- Misaligned incentives: brokers reward volume, partners need retention
- Unstable execution: clients leave when fills, pricing, or slippage behave unpredictably
- Opaque commission logic: unclear rules, inconsistent payouts, hidden conditions
- Weak onboarding architecture: slow activation, compliance bottlenecks, poor client experience
- No partner‑level support: IBs are left alone once the client deposits
Most brokers dont build IB programs for long‑term alignment.
They build them for short‑term acquisition metrics.
And thats why they fail.
The deeper issue nobody talks about:
An IB program is not a marketing tool.
Its a network architecture.
If the brokers system:
- widens spreads under pressure
- changes routing when clients win
- behaves differently during volatility
- hides execution mechanics
…then no IB can build a stable client base, because the broker itself is unstable.
IB performance is a reflection of broker behaviour, not partner skill.
A CEOs perspective:
Ive seen IB programs collapse because:
- the broker couldnt handle profitable clients
- the execution changed personality during volatility
- commissions were adjusted without warning
- support disappeared when partners needed it most
- the broker treated IBs as marketing assets, not business partners
IB programs dont fail because the idea is flawed.
They fail because the infrastructure behind them is not engineered for alignment.
If the broker‘s architecture doesn’t support trader success, it will never support IB success either.
If you want to know whether an IB program will survive, dont look at the commission rate.
Look at how the brokers system behaves when clients start performing.
