Purpose

The UAE foreign exchange market is an emerging offshore Forex trading market that has developed over the past two decades. Leveraging Dubai's locational advantage as the Middle East's financial hub, it has brought together a large number of Forex brokers catering to global investors, with a relatively flexible regulatory environment, and covers trading clientele across West Asia, North Africa, and several regions of Eastern Europe. To help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of Forex brokers in the region, the field inspection team went to the UAE for an on-site visit.

Process

This time, the on-site inspection team traveled to the United Arab Emirates as planned to conduct an on-site visit to the forex broker FXEquity. According to public information, its office address is 9305, Business Centre 1, M Floor, Nada Al Sheba, The Meydan Hotel, Dubai - United Arab Emirates.

The professional and experienced inspection team, driven by a sense of mission to strictly protect the interests of investors, went to the United Arab Emirates following a well-planned itinerary. Based on the above information, they conducted an on-site visit to broker FXEquity.

After arriving at the target area, we found that the location indicated by the address is situated in a non-central area of Dubai and is overall a venue belonging to the category of a luxury entertainment complex, which is completely inconsistent with the nature of a conventional commercial office building. Upon reaching the target location, we were able to take a complete panoramic view of the building. The entire building is a well-known local luxury hotel, with surrounding facilities mainly comprising leisure, entertainment, and accommodation-related services. Throughout the exterior of the building, we found no company signage or directional information related to FXEquity.

The inspection team successfully entered the building lobby. After stating their purpose to the on-site staff, they obtained permission to enter the lobby area through communication. The staff informed them that the core function of the entire building is hotel accommodation and supporting leisure services, not a commercial office building for external leasing. There is no company directory board in the building, and no logo belonging to FXEquity was found anywhere inside the building.

Since the building is essentially a luxury hotel, there is no division of commercial office floors available for external leasing. It is completely impossible to go to the M Floor indicated in the public address to verify the specific location, and there is no dedicated office area for FXEquity. Naturally, there is no company reception desk or front desk logo available for photography, and the venue is not a shared office space type either.

Due to the limitations of the venue's nature, unrelated personnel are not allowed to freely enter non-public areas, making it completely impossible to observe the so-called internal office environment of FXEquity. The functional positioning of this venue does not match at all the office needs of a forex broker that claims to conduct legitimate business.

Therefore, after the on-site inspection, it was confirmed that broker FXEquity does not exist at the above address.

Conclusion

The field inspectors visited the forex broker FXEquity in the UAE as planned. At its publicly displayed business address, they could not see the company name or other information of the broker, indicating that the broker does not have a real place of business. Investors are advised to make their choices after comprehensive consideration.
