One of the key market events this week is the release of the FOMC meeting minutes, scheduled for later today during the U.S. trading session.
Market attention will be focused primarily on any signals related to the Federal Reserves inflation outlook and the future direction of monetary policy.
Any indication that policymakers are becoming more open to discussing further interest-rate increases, or maintaining restrictive policy for longer, could put significant pressure on risk assets, including Gold.
At the same time, a more cautious assessment of the U.S. economic outlook and labour-market conditions may support expectations for future monetary easing. However, unless the minutes provide a clearly dovish signal, the market may remain reluctant to price in aggressive interest-rate cuts.
As a result, Gold could remain highly sensitive to both the tone of the minutes and the subsequent reaction in U.S. Treasury yields and the U.S. dollar.
Technical Levels to Watch
Upside resistance:
4400–4410 – first important resistance area
4440–4460 – stronger upside barrier
Downside support:
4280–4300 – first key support zone
4230–4250 – stronger downside support
In the event of a broader de-risking move or a more hawkish-than-expected interpretation of the FOMC minutes, levels below 4200 could quickly return into focus.
Overall, today‘s price action is likely to remain strongly dependent on the market’s interpretation of the Feds inflation outlook and the balance between persistent price pressures and weakening economic momentum.
