Introduction FINTRAC is Canada's financial intelligence unit, which was established in 2000.It is an independent body that reports to the finance minister and is responsible to the parliamentary operations centre.Headquartered in Ottawa, it is mainly responsible for collecting, analyzing, evaluating and disclosing relevant information of Canadian financial industry to protect the financial stability and security of Canada.FINTRAC is a member of the agammon alliance (FIU), which aims to strengthen cooperation and exchange of information in support of member states' anti-money laundering and terrorist financing regimes.
