Financial Markets Authority

The New Zealand financial markets authority (FMA) and the New Zealand reserve bank (RBNZ), the two regulators that make up New Zealand's financial markets regulatory system.The FMA was created in 2011 under the financial markets authority act of 2011.The FMA replaced the original securities board and took over some of the functions of the New Zealand government's economic development department, in particular the FMA's ability to oversee the New Zealand government's budget and fulfill some of the functions of company registration.
